Made to drawing or sample
Wire forms
Clips, hooks and pins bent from the same wire we coil springs from. If it is not a plain helix, it is a wire form.

What it is and how it works
A wire form is a bent-wire part that is not a plain coil. The families we are asked for most are clips, hooks and pins. They come off the same 0.40–2.50 mm wire as the springs, in the same materials.
The drawing is the product. Bend angles, bend radii and the lengths between bends decide whether the clip snaps onto a pin or sits loose. A radius that is too tight for the grade will crack on the outside of the bend — hard-drawn wire is less forgiving than stainless here.
We do not publish a catalogue of standard R-clips or hitch pins. Send the drawing or the sample.

Types and ends
- Clips — R-clips, retaining clips, small spring clips.
- Hooks — S-hooks, J-hooks, and hooks that are part of a longer form.
- Pins — straight or bent pins that locate or retain.

What we coil it from
Only the grades we actually buy. Tell us the environment and we will pick from this list.
| Material | Typical standard | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Spring steel (hard-drawn grades) | Typical of IS 4454-1 / EN 10270-1 cold-drawn carbon wire | Everyday torsion, extension, compression and wire forms where the part stays dry and the load is not highly cyclic. |
| Music wire | Typical of ASTM A228 / IS 4454-1 grade DH | On request, for small precision springs that need a higher tensile strength than hard-drawn wire. |
| Stainless steel 302 / 304 | Typical of ASTM A313 / IS 4454-4 | Damp, outdoor or electrical work where rust on carbon steel would be a problem. |
| Stainless steel 316 | Typical of ASTM A313 Type 316 | Chlorides or chemical splash. Tell us if the spring will see salt or cleaning chemicals. |
| Oil-tempered wire | Typical of IS 4454-2 / EN 10270-2 | On request, toward the upper end of our 0.40–2.50 mm range, for general industrial use. |
05 · Design
What to put on your drawing
- 01A drawing with bend angles, bend radii and lengths
- 02Wire diameter
- 03Material
- 04Critical tolerances (the fits that actually matter)
- 05End treatment if any (chamfer, flatten)
- 06Finish, if the part is plated
- 07Quantity
Put a radius on every bend and mark the lengths that actually mate with something. Cosmetic legs can be “as formed”. The pin diameter a clip has to snap over is a real number — give it.
06 · Use
Where this spring is used
Automotive retainers and harness clips, switchgear links, furniture hardware, instrumentation brackets, appliance hooks. Same industries as the springs, because they often ship together.
07 · Process
How we make it
The wire is bent to the drawing, then the batch is stress-relieved when the part needs it. Finishing goes through partners. Dispatch is ex-works Talawade.
08 · Quote
Send this and we will quote in 24 hours
- Spring type and quantity
- Drawing, dimensioned photo, or the old spring
- Material, or where the part lives (dry, damp, outdoors)
- Any finish (plating is through partners)
